My kids really like this show. I think the whole explanation of how Elena's story began is very rushed through and I would like more flash backs I guess to the lead up. In the forest, Fiero restores the pages he took. Anyway, my kids who are 6 and 8 like it very much, and I do to. Princess Elenas journey began long ago when her parents and kingdom were taken from her by the evil sorceress, Shuriki. Shuriki tells him he should look to the future and that she needs his help to get into the Royal Treasury.
Shuriki tells Fiero he owes her one, but Fiero responds that he owes her nothing as she banished him from Avalor. The others oppose this as it is too dangerous. When they notice that feels left out, Elena and invite her to be part of their routine. He tells Shuriki they contain a way to defeat Elena. Back at Avalor Palace, the Royal Family of Avalor is practicing their song and dance for the Sunflower Festival.
Elena is horrified to see Shuriki and also realizes that Carla is Rita. Naomi stops Elena on the way out. Shuriki refuses to give Carla more Shape-shifting Potion, stating it is her own fault she needs more due to failing to steal the Maruvian Reversal Potion they need to revive. While Elena is the rightful heir to the throne, she is only age 16 so she will rule Avalor with the help of a Grand Council comprised of her Grandfather Tito, Grandmother Cici and Royal Advisor, Duke Esteban. Only real disappointment is that the Sophia episode is sold separately. Elena is a magical princess with a little sister with Latina heritage and culture. Naomi tries to investigate further only to be stopped by a mariachi band.
Anyway, the show is definitely worth it. Meanwhile, a disguised Shuriki and Victor arrive in Avalor Palace with the rest of the crowd. Carla asserts that it is because Elena is keeping her busy with the Sunflower Festival, which she invited the entire Kingdom for. Sofia must have been there, I assume, or is it a different time period? Mateo appears and throws Elena the. Elena assures her she is not and the group heads out to the Festival. The stories, culture and interpersonal relationships in the show are great.
Elsewhere, the Royal Family of Avalor and Cristina are doing the Royal Family's routine for the Sunflower Festival. Did I mention it feels like Sofia?? Armed with the Scepter, Elena fights back and destroys Shuriki's new wand, forcing her group to retreat. He also tells Shuriki that in exchange for this info she must make him the Royal Malvago and Shuriki agrees. Since she is only 16-years-old, she has a Grand Council composed of her grandparents, older cousin Chancellor Esteban and a new friend, Naomi, to give advice along the way. Meanwhile, Mateo has arrived in his workshop to find it trashed. Strong smart female leads, not perfect, but learn lessons and are kind and thoughtful. It is a story based in the same magical world as Sofia, but another part of it.
There are magical creatures and talking animals. They've borrowed from every recent success. Naomi tells Mateo and what she saw. Meanwhile, it is time for the Royal Family's routine. I'm not partial to action, particularly, although it is fun and I like the show a lot. However, she is unable to get in. My daughter and I love watching the show together! Suddenly, Victor shows up for an update, to which Carla tries to wave him away.
Elena is a great person and a great role model in this volume. Both sorcerers come to an agreement and, with Fiero's help, Shuriki and the Delgados are able to break into the Royal Treasury and steal Queen Lucia's Tiara. Shuriki tries to strike Elena down with her new wand. Several of the other characters develop significantly over time e. Carla uses the key to enter Mateo's workshop and steal the Reversal Potion.
Meanwhile, Shuriki uses the potion to revive Fiero. This is a really excellent show. She also warns Carla that if she has not stolen the Reversal Potion by the time they get in, they will take over the task. Teenage princess Elena has saved her magical kingdom, Avalor, from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as its crown princess. Decades later, Princess Sofia of Enchancia discovers the truth about the amulet she has worn since joining her royal family and sets out to restore Elena to her human form and help her return to the kingdom of Avalor.

With some magical friends by her side - Mateo, a wizard-in-training, and Skylar, a magical flying creature - Princess Elenas further adventures will lead her to understand that her new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience and compassion, the traits of all truly great leaders. She then throws the tiara on the floor and breaks it in half by stepping on it with her heel shoe. Mateo tells her about the key that is on his person. As a parent I love that each episode has a life lesson as the theme and the musical numbers are fun to emphasize the lessons. Actually elena actually apparently came out of the amulet of Avalor! At first, Cristina does not want to take part but Elena encourages her and the routine is performed. You may be a little overwhelmed with the introduction in episode 1 if you don't watch the movie that comes before the show and you may be a little confused in parts of it if you haven't seen Sofia the First , but if you are overwhelmed, don't worry.
